Freek Hail Storm Hits Bogota

An unusually strong hail storm whipped through Colombia’s capital, today, causing severe flooding and burying dozens of vehicles under the ice. It is the strongest ever hailstorm seen in Bogotá, luckily no one was killed.
Over 30 cars became stuck in a meter and a half (59 inches) of water and ice .

Heavy rain has lashed across the country at the beginning of the rainy season in October. So fare more than 90 people have been killed by the rain, which has caused widespread flooding and left more than 800,000 people homeless.

River Trip

We got away from Medellin this weekend and had a picnic next to a remote river about 2 hours away from here. A whole group of us caravaned it early Sunday morning. Very cool place , 3 or 4 years ago you wouldn’t have dreamed of going there - you would never have made it, now its as safe a ever and very quiet.

Medellin Thunderstorms

We are entering the rainy season here in Medellin and we tend to get a storm every other day. Some are behind the distant hills and others right overhead. We had a killer storm about a week ago and I managed to get some pretty cool pics of the whole thing. Over the course of an hour i took 291 photos and managed to get these 2.

That’s looking out of our 14th floor apartment to the right - down town Medellin. To the left we had this.
