Our drive to Switzerland was one of our more memorable drives. Turning a corner,( near the border with France and Switzerland) and being welcomed by a complete white out. From early on I had been warned about the need for winter tires, snow chains etc etc. And for a few seconds I shat myself thinking that
their warnings should have been heeded. But looks like I was right, Switzerland actual do grit roads.
The first couple of days were spent in Zurich, visiting Yvonne from Kibbutz. For me the country that has been my highlight on this trip so far ,would have to be Switzerland. It doesn’t rain here like London, instead it snows. It’s something out of Disneyland. Everything is perfect, from the transport system to the mountains. Apart from seeing our friends again, going through old photos, and reminiscing there are 2 things that have stuck out. They are: the skiing in Crans Montana and the private concert and jam session by Clockwork.
After 3 days in Zurich with Yvonne we headed to the mountains with Marielle (also from kibbutz) for a bit of skiing. I’m bladdy surprised at just how hard snowboarding and skiing is, not to mention the snow when you land on it as speed. I tried snowboarding first, it resembles surfing, so I guessed it would be easiler. It wasn’t, I managed to get a couple of turns in but after missing the final gondola down I was eventually rescued by the mountain patrol guy who picked me up half way down the slope.( I had abandoned the snowboard and decided to walk down)
The following day, I went back up, with Jeff –Marielle’s boyfriend and tried my hand at skiing…it took an hour or two to get the hang of , and by the end of the day I was setting the slope alive- not really , but I did manage to get down the slope without killing myself or someone else. Although I did also manage to fall from a standing stationary position while waiting in line for the lift back up…”kook!”
Geneva is quite cosmopolitan and like the rest of Switzerland fits the part. The lake, the mountains and the buildings make this quite a picturesque city and i was glad to see it.
That leads me to Our Private Concert last night…..
